Importance of Communication in Photography

Communication is an important factor in photography.  In other words, we can say that photography is a tool for visual communication. It can be verbal or non-verbal communication. There are two sides of a photographer, one is technical and other is artistic. If the photographer arranges the subject in a scene so that they make sense is the one side of the photography. On the other hand, if you think artistically than you arrange the subjects in a scene to provoke the emotions. There are some similarities between a great photographer such as the creative eye, ability to communicate to their subject or clients. Landscape photographers and portrait photographers will use different ways to communicate. The spatial perspective used by the landscape photographer for the communication purpose whereas portrait photographers will use focus to communicate. In landscape photography, the photographer will use objects carefully to invite you into the scene and they use depth, composition, focal length, light, etc. for the communication purpose. In portrait photography, aperture such as f/2.8 is used for communication because this holds your attention on the specific part of an image but don’t forget about the shallow depth of field which is important in macro or close-up photography.
